Four GoHawks along with Coach Eric Whitcome traveled to Spokane, Washington with the Iowa 16U National Greco Roman and Freestyle Dual teams from June 12th – 16th.  Competing along with Iowa’s best the team finished 4th overall in Greco Roman out of 26 teams.  The team then backed that performance up with a 5th place overall in Freestyle out of 27 teams competing.

During the two day Greco Roman event Ryder Block, Bailey Roybal and Luke Walker helped the team finish second in Pool A losing only to eventual champion Minnesota Blue.  That set Team Iowa up in the Gold/Silver bracket where they went 2-1 losing only to National runner-up Illinois.  That result placed them against the team from Georgia.  Team Iowa lost 43-21 to finish fourth.

In the Freestyle tournament that followed  Ryder Block, Bailey Roybal, Aiden Riggins and Luke Walker helped Team Iowa win their pool sweeping Florida, Oklahoma, and then New Jersey in the first round of the Gold/Silver pool.  Iowa then lost two tough duals against Pennsylvania by a 36-39 score and a 24-46 score to eventual Champion Minnesota Blue.  Team Iowa completed the freestyle tournament with a 5th place victory over California by a 52-22 margin.
