KCRG Coaches of the Century: #24 Rick Caldwell
This year KCRG is celebrating the best of the best from the sports world in Eastern Iowa over the last 25 years. The over-arcing theme of this series will be "The Stories of the Century". During this year, we'll count down the top 25 athletes, coaches, and teams from the past 25 years.
WAVERLY, Iowa — Our #24 prep coach from the 21st century is former Waverly-Shell Rock head wrestling coach Rick Caldwell. He took over a program in 1999 that had never won a State team title. But by the time he retired in 2011, the Go-Hawks had won 5 traditional team titles, and another 4 duals team championships. He also coached 20 individual State champions, and is a member of the national wrestling hall of fame.
